In 2023 COPFS commissioned MLA to prepare design proposals for the relocation of their existing offices to a new building at Compass House on Riverside Drive to accommodate approximately 80 staff and reconfigure to a modern open plan footprint for the Local Court Team serving the nearby Sheriff Court in March 24 after relocating from the previous COPFS premises in Marketgait.
The Lord Advocate, Dorothy Bain KC, today unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of new office accommodation in Dundee for the city’s Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) staff.
The new accommodation will help the Procurator Fiscal provide access to members of the public to better serve the local community and work more closely with key local criminal justice agencies. The Lord Advocate was joined at the small ceremony by Helen Nisbet, Procurator Fiscal for Tayside, Central and Fife.
The Estates Working Group requested that the new design incorporated spaces for Future Ways of Working (FWOW), including the flexibility to work from home or a different office. This included an environment that is welcoming for every and any COPFS member of staff and also every visitor, including our Criminal Justice partners and the public.
COPFS staff will be co-located with several other justice partner agencies, including the Scottish Courts Tribunal Service (SCTS) and Victim Support Scotland.
MLA developed a modern open-plan design where work is completed in a variety of appropriately designed, shared settings and not tethered to specific workstations or location within the building. Flexibility within design that allows for certain areas to be used for different purposes e.g. training, team-briefings, collaboration etc.
The Lord Advocate said: “The move is a welcome step to developing and improving our overall estate and ensuring COPFS is able to invest in our most important asset, the staff that ensure a first-rate prosecution service.”
Helen Nisbet said: “We are delighted to provide a modern, accessible point of contact for the people of Dundee to engage with COPFS. The office location also offers us the opportunity for close engagement with justice partners to ensure collaborative working across various sectors”
