In 2018 COPFS commissioned MLA to prepare a design proposal for the relocation of their existing offices to a new building in Dundee’s West Port Development to increase its capacity by approximately 80 staff and reconfigure to a modern open plan footprint for the Local Court Team serving the nearby Sheriff Court.

The project involved the fit out of two existing Office Suites and space planning for 70 staff.

The Estates Working Group requested that the new design incorporated spaces for Future Ways of Working (FWOW), including the flexibility to work from home or a different office. This included an environment that is welcoming for every and any COPFS member of staff and also every visitor, including our Criminal Justice partners and the public.

MLA developed a modern open-plan design where work is completed in a variety of appropriately designed, shared settings and not tethered to specific workstations or location within the building. Flexibility within design that allows for certain areas to be used for different purposes e.g. training, team-briefings, collaboration etc.
