The existing Grade B Listed Sheriff Court sits on West Bell Street in Dundee. In 2014 SCTS purchased the non-listed JP Courtroom block and corner site formerly occupied by the City Council. This two-storey block was integrated into the Sheriff Court in 2016 and used mainly as a JP Courtroom and admin block.

In 2018 MLA were commissioned to prepare designs to redevelop the interior of the Sheriff Court and extend the Sheriff Court, incorporating two courts from the nearby Civil Annex and offices.

The intention was to create a modern “fit for purpose” Courthouse with a four-storey extension containing administrative offices and New Chambers. In consultation with Dundee Council Conservation Planners, MLA considered it important that the corner site extension was carefully designed to reflect an important urban intersection, and appropriate modern materials were chosen.

The project will also include significant internal alterations and a full services upgrade which requires careful integration with the historic fabric to retain as many original features as possible.
