Michael Laurie Architects were commissioned early in 2020 by Scottish Court & Tribunal Service, Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service & the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry to support the Executive Management Teams in the planning and redesign of services for the Covid 19 Pandemic. This involved preparation of Social Distancing floor plans for every floor plan, in every building in the Scottish Estate.

Detailed Courtroom plans were also prepared for social distancing and a specific project was developed to provide Courtrooms for digital Jury Trials and digital Multi-Accused Trials. This initially involved the phased formation of several redeveloped courtrooms in Edinburgh and Glasgow High Courts.

SCTS were delighted with their new Socially Distanced accommodation. The project was undertaken by Specialist Fit Out Contractors Atalian Servest whilst the Courts were fully operational and required very careful phasing and planning.
