MLA were commissioned in 2014 by the Scottish Court & Tribunal Service to provide design proposals for a new Personal Injury Jury Courtroom in Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Chambers Street in Edinburgh which was built in 1991.

The project involved the phased formation of four important functional spaces to meet important developments in the operational business. These included a new Edinburgh Bar Association Facility, a new Jury Muster Facility, an expanded office for the Civil Business Team and a new PI Courtroom 18. The area refurbished totalled over 1000sqm over three floor levels and was completed by July 2015. Intended for PII business the Civil Jury Courtroom incorporated the most up to date in Court IT for remote witnesses and digital recording of evidence in a facility of over 200sqm.

The project was undertaken by Specialist Fit Out Contractors Morris & Spottiswood whilst the Court was fully operational and required very careful phasing and planning.
