In 2010 SCTS commissioned MLA to undertake a project to relocate the Judicial Institute into the PSA Wing, Parliament House, Edinburgh’s Supreme Court. Mock Courts and high-tech IT, Video Conferencing etc were incorporated into a Judicial Institute Training Suite alongside supporting Administrative offices. The project required a complete space planning exercise in three floors of the PSA wing totalling some 30,000sqft.

The new Judicial Training facilities were designed to meet the information, learning, collaboration and communication needs of all judges, sheriffs, and justices of the peace in Scotland. Utilising advanced digital technology, the centre is unique in that it provides a wide range of training, learning and communication features that users can access on any device with internet access, from any location.

The Judicial Institute highly praised the design of the new training accommodation. The project was undertaken by Specialist Fit Out Contractors Morris & Spottiswood whilst the Court was fully operational and required very careful phasing and planning.
