Michael founded the Michael Laurie Architects (MLA) practice in 2005, after a 16-year career, working on a wide variety of projects in the Private, Commercial and Public Sector, learning his trade in three of Edinburgh’s highly regarded architectural offices.
There are a range of ways in which a Space Planner operates. The role will be different for each project and each client. Over thirty years MLA have developed the knowledge, skills, and abilities, understanding, and experience to undertake this role.
We are skilled in conservation planning and the protection of historic buildings across Scotland, and work with a wide range of clients including public sector owners of listed buildings, to private, commercial, and ecclesiastical clients.
In 2015, MLA established a stand-alone Principal Designer Service to meet the requirements of the Construction Regulations. We provide standalone Principal Designer Services, and a Consultancy service to help both Clients and Principal Designers.
MLA have a proven track record of combining Architectural experience and functional expertise to get high-quality visual images. We have worked on diverse building types and can transform 2D CAD Drawings, sketches, or real site images into images with details & texture.
When considering a large construction project, the most important decisions are often the ones made at the beginning, before the planning and design stages and long before work starts on site. MLA’s Client Advisers are highly trained, experienced architects.
The Team at MLA believe that design must be considered as part of the process that influences the sustainability of the building. A truly sustainable building can only be achieved through a fully inclusive and collaborative approach.
